Pop Warner
Little Scholars, Inc. (PWLS) is the only national youth sports
organization in America that requires its participants to perform
adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. They believe
that the standards they have set give children a sense of responsibility
and an appreciation for academics and athletics that will help them
develop later on in life. Proof of satisfactory progress in school is
required. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point
average acceptable to participate.
Pop Warner
All-American Scholar Program
Each year,
the most academically accomplished Pop Warner kids compete for Academic
All-American status. To be eligible, the participant must be currently
enrolled in the fifth grade or higher and have a 96% or better GPA on
his previous year’s report card. Each participant’s application is
submitted to the Mid-America Region Pop Warner and scored on GPA along
with an additional addendum noting any non-sporting activities and
achievements to determine their selection to 1st Team, 2nd
Team or Honorable Mention All-American. Additionally, the top 35
football players and top 25 cheerleaders per grade (plus ties)
nationwide are selected as National 1st Team or 2nd
Team All-Americans, announced each year on April 1st. |
